
The NIACC Financial Aid Office helps all students that need financial assistance in meeting their educational goals. Our staff is available to help you complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, answer questions regarding eligibility, assist you in applying for scholarships, process your loan request and help answer any other questions you may have.
There are numerous types of financial aid. Students receive assistance through grants, scholarships, loans and work study opportunities.
In order to apply for financial aid, simply follow these steps:
Step 1: Apply for Admission to NIACC. Contact the NIACC Admissions Office at 1-888- GO NIACC.
Step 2: Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
The FAFSA is the starting point for all students to apply for Federal and State financial aid. FAFSA forms are available from the NIACC Financial Aid office, your high school guidance offices or you can apply on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Be sure to list NIACC in Step Six of the application. NIACC’s Federal school code is 001877.
Step 3: Submit your
completed FAFSA.
If you complete the paper version of the FAFSA, mail your application in the
envelope provided in the instruction book. If you apply over the Internet,
you must send your signature page to the address provided on the signature
page or send your electronic signature (PIN) over the Internet. Award funds
in many federal and state programs are limited, to be considered for these
types of aid, your application must be received at the processing center by
March 1. To be considered for the state programs your application must be received by July 1.
Step 4: Watch for a
Student Aid Report (SAR) in your mail within 4-6 weeks from submitting your
application.
By listing NIACC on your FAFSA form, the NIACC Financial Aid Office will
automatically receive a copy of your SAR.
Step 5: The NIACC
Financial Aid Office will begin processing your financial aid award and
determine what you are eligible to receive.
Forward all requested forms and documentation to the NIACC Financial Aid
Office. Once your aid has been processed, you will receive a financial aid
award notification letter. You will need to sign this letter and return it
to the NIACC Financial Aid Office by the date indicated.
