Student Housing at NIACC:
come, take a closer look!

What Comes in a Room
Each carpeted room comes with a bed, twin extra long mattress, blinds, wardrobe closet, small three-drawer chest and a desk with a chair.

Single Room
Some students have a room to themselves.  Single rooms are assigned based on availability. Priority is given first to returning sophomores and then to new applicants based on the date their materials are received.  Most rooms measure the same as theImage of a double dorm room with two loft beds, viewing one from the end of the other. double occupancy rooms; however, certain rooms (A111, A211, A311, B109, B209, B309, C111, C211, C311, D111, D211, D311) are slightly smaller in dimension and are generally used as single occupancy only.  Single rooms cost $300 extra per semester.

Double Room

Many students choose to have a roommate.  Each double occupancy room has either two single standing beds or a set of bunk beds.  Student roommate selections are made by housing staff, but you can also request a specific roommate.  If you want a specific roommate, you must identify that on your contract.

Room Dimensions
Most rooms measure: Height: 8'3", Length: 13'10", Width: 10'6".

Loft Beds

We provide every student with a bed; however, many choose to personalize their room and maximize the space by building a loft. If you plan to build a loft in your room, the following room dimensions and sample plans should prove helpful to you.Image of a single dorm room with a loft style bed.
  Length of bed frame: 82"
  Width of bed frame: 36½"
  Height of room: 8' 3"
  Height of loft: 8'
Distance between floor and bed frame: 6'6"
All lofts must be free standing (No hanging lofts are allowed).
Note: Individuals building lofts take full responsibility for the soundness and strength of the finished product. In no way is NIACC responsible for accidents occurring during the building of the loft or at any time during which it is being used.

Come Take a Look!

A good way to learn more about living on campus is to come for a visit. You may arrange for a campus tour, including a tour of our student housing facilities, during a scheduled visit day or any other time campus is open.  To arrange a tour, call the NIACC Admissions Office: 641-422-4245 or 1-888-GO NIACC, ext. 4245 or visit the NIACC Campus Visits page.
