Short-Term Diploma & Certificate Programs

This is a list of the diploma and certificate programs offered by NIACC. These programs can be completed in a short amount of time, typically one-year if the student is full-time. Some of the Non-Credit Certificate programs can be completed in a matter of weeks. Each program is unique and gives the student the opportunity for training that is specific to the fields of Business, Health and Industry.

Some terminology you may need to know:

Semester hour - a unit of measurement used to determine approximately how many hours a student is required to be in class. These hours will be accumulated toward the completion of a certificate, diploma or degree.

Certificate - A document certifying that a student has fulfilled the course requirements of a non-degree program.

Diploma - The recognition granted to a student who has completed at least 30 semester hours in a career program.

Degree - Successful completion of a particular program of academic work. The student completes the minimum of 60 semester hours for a degree program.

Non-Credit Programs These programs do not satisfy the completion requirements for credit programs. They are typically short term and are targeted towards job preparation, and the length of time it takes to complete these programs are typically expressed in clock hours – not semester hours
