NIACC Trustee Linda Upmeyer, of Garner, received the 1998 John P. Kibbie Award from the Iowa Association of Community College Trustees (IACCT). Upmeyer, who is involved with community colleges at the local, state and national level, has served on the NIACC Board of Directors since 1990.
Don Smith, NIACC Supervisor for Custodial/Room Set-Up Service has completed training through The Institute for Facilities Management (APPA). The training, which involves 3 week-long programs spread over 3 years, is designed for facility managers from colleges and universities around the world.
Jeff Platt, NIACC Psychology Instructor, recently completed a PowerPoint presentation for Prentice Hall publishing company. Available on CD-ROM, his presentation will be included as an instructor's supplement for the 10th edition of the "Psychology" textbook by Charles Morris.
Patrick Galliart, NIACC Biological Science Instructor, recently authored a revised anatomy and physiology lab manual for WCB/McGraw-Hill publishing company based on a manual by Harold Benson. Published last summer, it is currently used in the A&P laboratories at NIACC.
NIACC's web site and viewbook took top honors during the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) District V Medallion Awards Competition. The NIACC Performing Arts & Leadership Series publication was also recognized during the regional competition.
