Dear Art Students:

Have you thought about applying for an art scholarship?  NIACC Art Department has scholarships that range from $250-1000 in awards. You can start the application process now!

The process of applying for art scholarships is a two-part process.

First, you must fill out a general scholarship application form through the NIACC Foundation. This can be done online(www.niacc.edu/finaid) and must be done prior to the March 1 deadline. Be sure to indicate your interest in the Visual Arts.

Second, the faculty of the Art Department will review applicants who have designated an interest in Visual Arts and invite those showing the most promise to submit a portfolio for review.

1. A portfolio of your best work should be assembled containing a minimum of 10-12 pieces of art. Please remember quality over quantity. Of the 10-12 artworks, a mix of drawings from life (no cartoons or anime), paintings, or three-dimensional work should be included.
2. Schedule a portfolio review, with Art Department Faculty for a question and answer session about your work and future goals. Portfolio reviews take place in April.
3. Reference letter from your high school art teacher.

If you cannot meet with the Art Department faculty for portfolio review, submit a CD with images of your work. The images will need to be in medium to high resolution jpeg or pdf files. For three-dimensional pieces please submit multiple views so the piece can be viewed in its entirety.
