About The Program

In the last six seasons the NIACC Trojans baseball program has come to the fore front as one of the premier junior college programs in the country.  Since 2002, the Trojans have complied 197 wins, including a school record of 39 victories and the programs first Iowa Community College Athletic Conference championship in 2005.

The Trojans have been ranked as high as fourth in the country in the NJCAA Division II polls, with a final ranking of ninth in 2005 and tenth in 2007.  Offensively, the Trojans have shown dominance leading the ICCAC in hitting the last four seasons.  Nationally the Trojans were ranked fourth in the nation with a .358 team batting average in 2005, sixth in the country at .357 in 2006, and tenth.

The programs success has come with the help of great players.  Five Trojans have received  NJCAA All-American honors:  Travis Rima, 03, 3rd Team, Andrew Plemmons, 04, 3rd Team, Anthony Alberts, 05, 3rd Team, Danny Reed, 06, 1st Team, and Tom Heithoff, 07, 3rd Team. Reed was  named 2006 Region IX Player of the Year and Tom Heithoff received the same honor in 2007.  The program has also had 37 players receive All-Region honors.  Academically, 62 Trojan players have receive All-Region Academic honors, Including two Academic All-Americans in 2006.

The Trojan's season consists of a six week fall season that includes up to 20 games against other schools in the Midwest, highlighted by the Blue/Gold intra-squad World Series.  During the off-season the Trojans spend three days a week lifting weights and developing speed in an intense strength and conditioning program.  Players also work with coaches individually twice a week on hitting and pitching.

The spring season features a 56-game schedule highlighted with trips to the Metrodome in Minneapolis, MN and Cocoa Beach, Fl.  The schedule also includes several non-conference games versus Division I Junior Colleges around the Midwest.

The Trojans call Roosevelt Field home.  The old-time stadium features grand stand seating, lights, natural playing surface, state-of-the-art sound system, and club house. Roosevelt Field received major upgrades in 2006. The upgrades include a new infield surface and irrigation system.
