Boys/Girls Basketball Tournament
December 6th and 7th
The NIACC Trojans would like to invite your 5th and 6th
grade Boys and/or Girls basketball team(s) to participate in our 2008
NIACC Boy/Girl Basketball Tournament.
DATE: Saturday December 6th
(girls)
Sunday: December 7th (boys)
SITE: NIACC GYMNASIUM and
"NEW"REC CENTER
ENTRIES: The entry fee is
$100.00. We will limit tournament entries to the first 8 teams
that send in their entry fee. Checks
should be made out to NIACC. All entry fees and forms should be
sent to:

ROSTER: All players on
roster must come from same school district. Roster size is
unlimited, however only 10 medals will
be awarded.
AWARDS: Medals will be
given up to 3rd place.
SCHEDULE: Each team(girls)
in each age group will play 3 games on Saturday beginning at 9:00 AM.
Each boy team in each age group will play 3 games on Sunday beginning at 9:00. We will play through 8th place
with a championship bracket and a consolation bracket.
ADMISSION: Adult admission
will be $4.00 adults and $2.00 for children for all day. Team players
and two coaches will
be admitted free.
CONCESSIONS: There will be
a concession stand open all day for your convenience.

BASKETBALL CHALLENGE
General Rules and Guidelines
1. Roster size is unlimited.
2. Medals given up to 3rd place,
however only 10 medals will be
given per team.
3. Basketball will be provided by
NIACC. Basketballs must stay in
gym at all times.
4. Teams should have light AND dark
color and each uniform must have
a number. Teams listed first in bracket will wear light
color.
5. Coaches, please have your teams
ready to play at their designated
times. This will help keep the tournament running on time.
6. Tournament is limited to 8 teams.
The first 8 teams to have
their tournament entry fee in will be accepted into
tournament. A team that enters and then cannot come will receive a
refund ONLY if a replacement team can be found.
7. The first game on Saturday will
begin at 9:00 AM. Doors will open at 8:00.
8. There will be two officials per
game. Most officials will be
certified, but all are volunteers.
9. There will be a 5 minute warm-up
before each game depending on the
schedule. Roster/score sheet should be complete at
scorer's table 10 minutes prior to start of game. No
additions made after first game.
Players may play on only one team.
10. All games will consist of four, 6
minute quarters with clock
stopping. Halftimes will be 3 minutes in length. Overtime
periods will be 2 minutes.
Each team will be allowed 2 time- outs per game. In any overtime, 1 timeout be
permitted, no carryover.
11. One and one will be shot on 7th
team foul per half. Two free
throws will be awarded on 10th team foul. Three point goals will
be allowed.
No full court pressing will be allowed if a team is ahead by 20 points. Zone
defenses are allowed. All rules
not covered here will follow Iowa girls' high school rules.
12. Tournament officials have the
right to alter schedule because of
conflicts, weather conditions or other problems. Coaches should
check
schedule upon arrival and before
leaving gym.
13. Locker rooms will be available.
No towels furnished. Each team is responsible for
their own valuables. NIACC will NOT be responsible for articles lost
or stolen.
14. Each team's coach is to report to
registration booth when they
arrive. Please remember to bring your waiver forms if you have not
already sent them in
along with your registration fee.
15. Coaches are responsible for
behavior of their
players. COACHES, PLAYERS, AND SPECTATORS ARE
EXPECTED TO DEMONSTRATE GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP.
IF NECESSARY, TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO
ASK SPECTATORS TO LEAVE GYM.
16. NIACC will NOT be help responsible
for any injury to players or
spectators or the loss or theft of personal possessions during the
tournament
