NIACC Men's Soccer Coaching Staff

Michael Regan- Head Coach

Mike Regan was named as the new head men’s soccer coach at North Iowa Area Community College in May 2007 after serving two years as an assistant coach for the Trojans. He has had success both as a player and a coach in recent years and his soccer background outside of the United States has added much to NIACC’s program in recent years.

Regan began coaching while he was a teenage student, helping out during summer youth soccer camps in his home town of Yateley, England. Later, he began working in his spare time at the prestigious Paul Walsh Soccer Academy in his area. During the summers of 2005 and 2006, whilst captaining the Ottawa Fury in the United Soccer Premier Development League, he used his spare time to coach youngsters in the Ottawa area at summer camps.

In the fall of 2005, Regan came to NIACC as a student and as NIACC’s assistant coach he was responsible for the recruitment of a pair of English standout players, Andy Scott and Derrick Best. At age 22, he was appointed as head soccer coach, adding to an already busy schedule.

Along with his work with the Trojans, Regan serves as head boys soccer coach at nearby Mason City High School. Regan also earned a USSF class D license for coaching within the past year.

Aleksandar Bogdanovic- Assistant Coach

Third-year assistant coach Aleksandar Bogdanovic will work in all aspects of soccer after spending the 2006 season as a volunteer assistant under previous head coach Colin Murphy.

Bogdanovic hails from Rijeka, Croatia, where he played indoor club soccer during his high school years. After high school, Bogdanovic played two years at NIACC as a defender, earning honorable mention All-Region XI honors twice. He recently completed his undergraduate work at NIACC.

Colin Murphy- Assistant Coach

Colin Murphy is a second year volunteer assistant for the NIACC men's soccer program after having been head coach the
previous four seasons. Last year's team posted the most wins in the Murphy era and Murphy also directed the NIACC
Soccer Academy in Mason City.

While coaching at NIACC during the fall, Murphy was also head boys soccer coach at Clear Lake High, posting a 39-19
overall mark, including a 17-3 record in 2003. Along with coaching at the high school and college level, Murphy has
served as North Iowa Soccer Club president from 2005-07.

Mission Statement

The goal of the NIACC Trojan soccer programs is to provide an opportunity for student athletes to further their academic and athletic careers.  The coaches will focus on developing the mental and physical abilities of each player, while creating a bridge between high school and major college athletics.
