03/17/09 - NIACC Hires Steve Kelly as Head Wrestling Coach

Steve Kelly picture North Iowa Area Community College officials announce Steve Kelly as the new head wrestling coach. Kelly will take over from Mark Schwab, who resigned last month.

For the past eight seasons, Kelly has served as the head wrestling coach at Waldorf College. During his time at Waldorf, Kelly coached 13 All-Americans, one National Champion and 56 National qualifiers.

“We are excited to have a person of Coach Kelly’s character and experience to join our athletic department. He has done a great job at Waldorf and he is a respected member of the wrestling community,” Dan Mason, NIACC athletic director, said.

Kelly brings with him a wealth of knowledge about wrestling at both the two-year and four-year levels. A native of Britt, Kelly wrestled at Iowa Central Community College and was a National Junior College Runner-up at 167 lbs. He then transferred to Iowa State University where he started for the next three years.

In addition to his duties as head wrestling coach, Kelly will also work in NIACC Admissions as an enrollment specialist.

02/16/09 - Wrestlers placed 2nd at Regional's - All 10 weight classes qualify for the NJCAA Championship

The NIACC Wrestler's finished 2nd out of 8 to number 1 ranked Iowa Central this past Saturday at the NJCCA Region VIII in Fort Dodge, IA. NIACC had all 10 weights qualify for the NJCAA Championships that will be held on February 27th & 28th in Rochester , MN.

02/02/09 - Trojan wrestler's traveled far this past weekend to compete in the Apodaca Dulas in

Powell, Wy. NIACC fell to Clackamas College Friday, 17-25 (Box Results Here)

NIACC also clinched a win Friday over Western Wyoming 6-27 (Box Results Here)

Saturday, NIACC lost to North Idaho College 15-24 (Box Results here) and defeated

Southwest Oregon 31-21 to wrap up the weekend. Box Results here.

01/20/09 - The NIACC wrestler's competed strong at Central College this past Saturday in Pella.

The NIACC men walked away with two champion titles and two third place finishes.

Tim Springs (165) and Jeremiah Barkac (125) both clinched the champion spots in

their class, while Brett Rosedale (174) and Zach Rosol finished 3rd. The results in

01/13/09 - The Trojan's were victorious over Iowa Lakes CC last night at home 30-14. Three

NIACC Trojan's produced pins in last nights competition, Jon Rivera (157), Brett

Rosedale (174), and Tyler Hancock (184). Full story here.

01/12/09 - NIACC places 2nd at the National Duals this past weekend in Cedar Falls, IA. The men

won 25-15 over Ellsworth, 21-15 over Meremac and were defeated in the finals 0-47

by Iowa Central. The men hit the mats again tomorrow night (Tuesday, January 13)

at home with a 7:00 start against Iowa Lakes CC.

12/13/08 - NIACC men placed 9th at the Dick Walter Invite in Waverly, IA. See the results and

12/08/08 - NIACC goes 1-2 overall last weekend at home. NIACC fell to SW Wyoming 17-30 and Ellsworth 8-32, before winning over Rochester 23-21. Read the story in full here.
