Summer Youth Employment and Training Program Coming to North Iowa

Ref. 3027

The Region 2 Workforce Development Partnership is implementing a Summer Youth Employment and Training program in Cerro Gordo, Floyd, Franklin, Hancock, Mitchell, Winnebago and Worth counties.  This program is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the federal government’s economic stimulus initiative.

The program will provide a quality work experience to North Iowans ages 14 to 24 who are considered low income and have an additional barrier to employment.  Applicants must reside in one of the above seven counties.

Youth enrolled will be placed in a job for approximately six weeks and will be paid minimum wage by the Workforce Investment Act Program.   Young people interested in this program may contact Region 2 Workforce Development Center at 641-422-1539.
