NIACC plans 14th Annual Gardening Seminar

The 14th Annual Gardening Seminar, “Come Bloom with Us”, will be held Thursday, March 16 at North Iowa Area Community College from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Organizers say the event offers participants an opportunity to learn from educators and local gardening specialists and get an early start on the gardening season in North Iowa.

Gardeners will hear presentations on a variety of topics ranging from, plants with style, creating new plants for gardeners in the Midwest (hybridizing daylilies), learning about woodpeckers, water-wise gardening, and the new garden: foliage, color & texture. Presenters include: Ellen Montgomery, The Basic Birder; Kelly Norris, Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden; Nan Ripley, Walkabout Gardens; and Aaron Steil and Ed Lyon of Reiman Gardens.

Market Street is a popular aspect of the seminar featuring garden-related business displays. Participants have an opportunity to learn about North Iowa gardening businesses and make purchases.

The Gardening Seminar is sponsored by North Iowa Area Community College. The registration fee includes a noon lunch and is $39 until March 8 and $45 after March 8. Reservations are taken at 1-888 –466-4222 ext. 4358 or 641-422-4358. If you have questions about the event, please call Carol Peterson at 641-923-2252.
