NIACC Accounting Degree
Program Information

Strengths

The Associate Degree program is a popular choice because of its flexibility and options. The curriculum prepares graduates for immediate employment or continuing their education toward the completion of a baccalaureate degree.

Students earning an Associate of Arts degree may transfer with junior status to Iowa State University, The University of Iowa, or the University of Northern Iowa. The ASB degree will transfer to four-year institutions that include: Buena Vista University and Franklin University (online). In addition, Accounting with Computers graduates may choose to apply their credit hours toward the ASB Degree program.

Students are taught by supportive, qualified faculty who not only have high educational credentials but also have real-life experience background. Small class size promotes positive, interactive learning with instructors; and various methods are used for curriculum implementation.

Degree Earned

Upon completion of the curriculum with a minimum average grade point of 2.00 (C), the student is awarded an Associate in Science (Business/Accounting) Degree.

Students wishing to pursue a four-year degree and want to meet general education requirements of transfer institutions should pursue the A.A. Degree. This will necessitate a slightly different curriculum.

Costs

Tuition is based on the number of credit hours and legal residence and is subject to change or modification. Effective July 1, 2008, Iowa resident tuition is $116.25 per semester hour.

Financial Aid/Scholarships

Financial assistance is available in the form of grants, scholarships, loans, and part-time employment (work study). Students apply for financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Contact the Financial Aid Office for financial aid and/or scholarship information.
