Long Term Care (LTC) provides a number of services necessary to meet the medical and non-medical needs of individuals with chronic illnesses or disabilities who are unable to care for themselves for extended periods of time. NIACC’s LTC classes are designed to meet the training and continuing education needs for Health Care Provider who work in the long term care field.
This is a 52 hour course consisting of 42 hours of classroom lecture, followed by a minimum of 10 hours of clinical experience. The purpose of the course is to prepare people to safely administer non parenteral medications in nursing facilities andLearn to administer non-parenteral medications.
A course plus clinical in the facility designed to prepare individuals to safely administer non-parenteral medications within a 15 bed or less: 1) residential facility for cognitively disabled 2)An assisted living facility, or 3)A supported communityAdminister non-parenteral medications within a 15 bed or less healthcare facility

Tests are required by the federal government and the State of Iowa if you plan to work in a certified long-term care facility as a nurse aide. This class includes: reading, activity assignments, and discussion board participation. Every Friday, students will meet with the instructor to review, practice, and pass skills.
