PELL Grant
Federal PELL grants are considered to be "need-based" gift aid. The PELL grant is the foundation of many students’ financial aid packages. Grants do not have to be repaid. The maximum PELL grant for the 2011-2012 academic year is $5550. The actual amount of the award is determined by a standard formula and funding established by Congress. All eligible students seeking a degree, full and part-time (including less-than-half-time), will receive awards. To apply, the student must submit the FAFSA.
Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
The Federal SEOG program provides up to $600 per academic year to students with exceptional need. To apply, complete your FAFSA by March 1 (NIACC’s priority filing date)
Iowa Vocational-Technical Grant
The Iowa Vocational-Technical Tuition Grant program provides need-based financial support to Iowa residents enrolled in career education (vocational-technical), and career option programs at Iowa community colleges. Grants range from $150 to $1200, depending on the length of program, financial need, and available funds. To apply, submit your FAFSA by July 1 (State of Iowa’s filing date).
Iowa Grant
Iowa grants are state grants designed to assist Iowa residents attending any school in Iowa. Like other grants, it is based on financial need. To apply, submit your FAFSA by July 1 (State of Iowa’s filing date).
