Will F. Muse Scholarship Rules and Instructions

Fill out the application and submit it to the Muse Scholarship Program by February 1, 2008.  Have your transcript(s) sent to the Muse Scholarship Program by February 1, 2008 (see transcript section for details).  Send a photocopy of your financial aid Student Aid Report (SAR) to the Muse Scholarship Program by March 15, 2008.

Grants will be awarded on an objective basis without regard to race, religion, color, creed, sex, national origin, age, and physical or mental disability.  Awards are made on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, moral character, and such additional criteria as may be deemed appropriate by the scholarship committee.  Examples of such criteria include results of performance tests and contributions to school and community.

Though the Fund provides no absolute priority for any group of potential recipients, preference is given to residents of Cerro Gordo County.

Grants may be made for study at any accredited public or private postsecondary educational institution.  You must be enrolled full time to be eligible.

Grant awards shall be for $1,300.

One-third of the grants will be to students enrolling in career/career programs.

Applicants must have satisfactorily completed a course of study from a recognized high school or possess a General Education Development (GED) diploma.

Applicants are required to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to the Federal Student Aid Processing Center.  (Allow 4-6 weeks for processing of the FAFSA application.)  A copy of the results of the FAFSA application - the Student Aid Report (SAR) - must be submitted to the Muse Scholarship Program by March 15, 2008.

Awards are for one year only and must be fully expended by the completion of the academic year.

Awards are made by an independent scholarship committee and decisions are final.

Do not attach additional materials or letters of support to this application.

Neatness and completeness of the application are factors in selection.

Completed applications and transcripts must be POSTMARKED before midnight February 1, 2008, and mailed to:

A signature is required on the hard copy application.  See online application for signature submission clarification.  For current NIACC students, your signature authorizes the College to access grade transcripts.

Failure to accurately follow all instructions will automatically disqualify your application.

The Will F. Muse Scholarship Fund was established by the last will and testament of Mrs. Ralph (Elizabeth Muse) Norris in memory of her father following her death September 30, 1981.  It is a scholarship fund administered by the Lee Endowment Foundation of Davenport, Iowa.
