Position Title
Chemistry Instructor
Natural Science Division (Full-time, 9-month contract)

Job Summary
Provide instruction in introductory and general chemistry.

Responsibilities
Conduct effective instruction in all assigned areas. Maintain current course syllabi and outlines. Participate in assessment and the periodic review of instructional programs. Prepare and submit all required reports related to the instructional task. Assist in the budgeting process and scheduling of classes as requested by the Division Chair. Participate in meetings and committees as designated to promote the development of the total College. Work with other faculty/staff and administration as assigned to promote the total College and assist in recruitment activities. Perform in a manner which strengthens the coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of the College, including opportunities for student recruitment.

Required Qualifications
Master’s degree with a minimum of 12 credit hours in graduate level courses in chemistry or biochemistry.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous collegiate teaching experience. Preferred MS degree (or higher) in chemistry or biochemistry with well-developed teaching skills and commitment to the comprehensive community college philosophy.

Salary/Benefits
Salary based on education and experience.  Fringe benefits of Blue Cross/Blue Shield major medical health insurance, eye care, dental, life and disability insurance, retirement benefits as provided by Social Security and Iowa Public Employees’ Retirement System (IPERS) or TIAA-CREF.

The College
North Iowa Area Community College has the distinction of being the first public two-year college in the state of Iowa, having been established in 1918 as Mason City Junior College. NIACC is an integral part of the educational, cultural, and economic foundation of the nine-county region it serves.
