Position Title
Custodian (2nd Shift) - (H/10)
Hours are 4:00 p.m.-Midnight; Sunday-Thursday
Job Summary
The primary responsibility of this position includes
general housekeeping duties and performing classroom, conference, and
special event set-ups as directed. . The work schedule is Sunday through
Thursday, 4 p.m. until 12:00 midnight.
Responsibilities
Clean and maintain the facilities to established
standards. Assist in the preparation and clean up for classroom, conference,
and special events as needed to meet customer satisfaction. Provide
miscellaneous customer service duties and assistance for custodial coverage
in all areas on campus and student housing. Use appropriate products to the
advantage of the college, and handle all hazardous chemicals properly,
following product specific instructions. Use and care for equipment
properly, including regular and preventive maintenance. Follow all safety
codes, regulations, and established procedures. Work overtime as assigned.
Communicate appropriately and effectively with the Facilities Management
Supervisors utilizing a pager, radio, or cell phone. Perform in a manner which strengthens the
coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of the
College, including opportunities for student recruitment.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be dependable,
must relate well with people, and must have the ability to work
independently on a day-to-day basis with a minimum of supervision. Must
possess adequate cleaning skills to maintain the campus interior and
exterior of the buildings.
Physical Qualifications
Lift, carry, push, and pull objects which weigh up to 30 pounds
frequently (e.g. hauling garbage and equipment) and heavier objects
occasionally (e.g. and tables). Bending, kneeling, crouching, and
crawling along with considerable walking and standing.
Equipment used includes:
First aid equipment and emergency related
equipment, battery starting equipment, floor care machines, miscellaneous
hand tools, snow blowers, snow shovels and fork lift. Must be familiar with
and utilize cell phones, 2-way radios, and pagers.
Salary/Benefits
The base salary for this position is $9.82
hourly in accordance with the salary scheduled established for Facilities
Management personnel. Fringe benefits of Blue Cross/Blue Shield major
medical health insurance, eye care, dental, life and disability insurance,
retirement benefits as provided by Social Security and Iowa Public
Employees’ Retirement System (IPERS) or TIAA-CREF.

The College
North Iowa Area Community College has the distinction of
being the first public two-year college in the state of Iowa, having been
established in 1918 as Mason City Junior College. NIACC is an integral part
