The Paramedic Program prepares you for paid or volunteer work with
public and private agencies employing emergency medical personnel. It is comprised of
three levels of training and certification:
Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B)
Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate (EMT-I)
Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P)
The courses, which are developed in a ladder sequence, are typically held evenings and
weekends. The EMT-B courses are offered 2 to 3 times a year, EMT-I classes are offered
once a year, and EMT-P classes are offered every other year or as needed. All levels
involve clinical experience, and the Intermediate and Paramedic levels involve field
experience with an advanced emergency medical service. Students who complete the EMT-P
level earn an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree.
