MODULE TITLE - 2A Building Layout



PREPARATION

 

Prerequisites

Basic math skills and blueprint reading, ability to read a tape measure

Safety

Personal protective equipment, power hand tool procedures

Objectives

Be able to layout building lines using 3-4-5 method for squaring corners and check accuracy using the equal diagonals method. Build batter boards, and accurately establish layout lines for building using layout instruments.

Math Skills

Pythagorean theorem, conversion of fraction to decimal, and conversion of feet, tenth, and hundredths of a foot to feet and inches.

transit or builders level, dry line, 50' or 100' tape measure, level, sledge hammer or maul, hammer, plumb bob

Materials

wood stakes, double headed nails, batter board material
