MODULE TITLE - 2B Footing and Foundation Forms


 

PREPARATION

 

Prerequisites

2A Building Layout, Basic blueprint reading and math skills

Safety

working in and around trenches

Objectives

Know characteristics and makeup of concrete, concrete reinforcement, appropriate placement and curing. Understand purpose and size determination of footings according to frost line requirements. Ability to install formwork for footings

text with lecture, demonstration, and guided practice

Math Skills

calculate volume, Pythagorean theorem, conversion of fraction to decimal, and conversion of feet, tenth, and hundredths of a foot to feet and inches.

transit or builders level, dry line, 50' or 100' tape measure, level, sledge hammer or maul, hammer, plumb bob

Materials

wood stakes, double headed nails, 2"x4" material for forms and bracing

Processes

establish elevations, install formwork, use line and block method to brace and straighten formwork
