MODULE TITLE - 3E Gable and Gambrel Roof Framing


 

PREPARATION

 

Prerequisites

3A Wall Framing, 3B Wall Layout and Plating Detailing, 3C Floor Framing, 3D Ceiling Framing; Basic measuring skills and blueprint reading

Safety

Ability to work at height. Know related work process safety, Ladder safety, Personal protective equipment

Objectives

Define and describe several roof types and roof framing terms. Describe the members of gable, gambrel, and shed roofs. Layout a common rafter. Layout and install gable studs. Ability to read roof framing tables.

Processes

determine line length of rafter, layout ridge cut, seat cut, and tail cut. Stack/erect gable roof.
