Murphy Manufacturing Technology Center - Facility

The $3 million Murphy Manufacturing Technology Center is a world-class learning facility equipped with the latest technologies, allowing NIACC to respond to an increasingly sophisticated manufacturing environment.

The initial phase of the 20,000 square-foot facility was finished and classes began in August 1997. The entire project was completed in January 1998.

The Center's innovative design fosters interaction between all sectors of manufacturing.

Special Features:

• Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) lab merged with a Computer Numeric Control (CNC) lab to take design into fabrication
   
• The latest Electronic Discharge Machining (EDM) equipment

• New manual machining lab with modern mills, lathes, grinders, saws, drills, and coordinate measuring equipment

• Two computer labs housing 36 Pentium-based computers featuring the latest design software

• 17 welding stations (just outside the Murphy Center door) capable of oxy-acetylene, stick, wire-feed MIG, and TIG processes
