Science 1 Course Description: Objective: Textbook: Science, Glencoe/McGraw-Hill, 2003 Unit 1 - Astronomy Chapter 1 - The Nature of Science Chapter 2 - Exploring Science Chapter 3 - The Sun-Earth-Moon System Chapter 4 - The Solar System Chapter 5 - Stars and Galaxies Unit 2 - Human Body Systems Chapter 6 - Structure and Movement Chapter 7 - Nutrients and Digestion Chapter 8 - Circulation Chapter 9 - Immunity and Disease Chapter 10 - Control and Coordination Unit 3 - Heredity Chapter 11 - The Role of Genes in Inheritance Chapter 12 - Adaptations over Time Unit 4 - Resources Chapter 13 - Conserving Life Chapter 14 - Conserving Resources
This course provides information about the solar systems; the systems and
functions of the human body; heredity; and biodiversity and the conservation of
resources.
The student will read the first fourteen chapters (Units 1-4) of the Science
text and complete activity sheets for each chapter. Activity sheets include
section and chapter reviews and mini-lab activities easily done at home. Upon
completion of chapter activities, the student will take a test. Sixty percent
accuracy is required on all tests to pass. Retests are required on failed exams.
Scores on failed tests are averaged with retest scores.

matter; and forces and motion.
Objective:
The student will read Chapters 15-23 (Units 5-7) of the Science text and
complete activity sheets for each chapter. Activity sheets include section and
chapter reviews and mini-lab activities easily done at home. Upon completion of
chapter activities, the student will take a test. Sixty percent accuracy is
