Basic Algebra

Course Description:
This course is designed to prepare students for taking tests and pursuing further education or training that requires a knowledge of basic algebra. Step-by-step instruction in the fundamentals of algebra is followed by practice sections to sharpen skills learned.

Objective:
Students will work all problems in the textbook, complete the section inventories, and pass all tests with 60 percent accuracy. Retests are required on failed units. The score from failed test will be averaged with retest score.

Consumer Math

Course Description:
This course provides instruction in place values, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percents, angles, area, circumference, and volume.

Objective:
The student must complete all written exercises for the following units. The "mastering skills" section and/or other drill exercises may be required by the instructor. The ten tests over Units 1-9and Unit 12 must be passed with 60 percent accuracy. Retests are required on tests failed. The score from failed test will be averaged with retest score.

Basic Mathematics

Course Description:
Shop Mathematics is intended for high school and vocational school students, apprentices, adult workers, and other groups where there is a need to improve mathematic skills of a practical nature. The contents include work with fractions, mixed numbers, decimals, metrics, percentages, and interest.

Objective:
The student will pass tests on addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers before proceeding to the rest of the text. He/she will then use the textbook to complete selected numerical problems and ALL WORD PROBLEMS. Nine tests will be given to determine progress. Sixty percent accuracy is required to pass. Retests are required on failed exams. Score from failed test will be averaged with retest score.
