Well, there I was, quite a bit older than the rest of
the student body, won't reveal my actually age!! LOL! As
I pulled up for the first day of school, I will admit a
lot of anxiety was building up. I parked the car and
walked quickly to my first class, hoping I would
remember the building. I walked into my first classroom
and looked around to see everyone was A LOT younger then
me!! The thoughts running through my head were: don't
draw attention to yourself and just listen. We had to
pair up with another individual, find out info on them
and tell about that person in front of the class. Just
what I wanted to do! Not! I could tell my voice was
shaking and my face was red as I told about my partner.
But, I survived!! The rest of the day went well. The
first 2 days I was a bit rushed. Needing to get the kids
off to school. Then, mommy on her way to school, I had
neglected to eat. The second day I came home and flopped
on the couch and commented I am so hungry and tired. My
eldest son, who is 11 and with great concern says, "
Mommy, this is not going to work if you don't eat for
the next year of college!" I laughed and laughed and had
to assure him I will eat I was just rushed. So now,
every night he asks, "Mommy did you pack your lunch?"
Nevertheless, I HAVE SURVIVED MY FIRST WEEK! I am
confident and looking forward to the coming weeks. Some
of the students I have had conversations with don't
believe my age, little ego booster there! The kids are
adjusting very well. Every night they ask "how was
school mommy? So far, they have allowed mommy 'homework
time' as the kids call it. The fear of the unknown has
been overcome! I can go to school and raise 3 kids! I am
certain I will do well, just need to get accustomed to
the new lifestyle. I enjoy the fact that all of my
teachers love their job, it makes things easier to learn
from passionate people. I truly feel they want the
students to succeed. After just one week of class I have
retained a lot of useful information and can't wait to
see how smart I am at the end of the year! So, once
again, thank you for this awesome opportunity and I will
do well and make everyone involved in the process of me
winning very proud.
