Dr. John Peterson Myers of Our Stolen Future organization.  With a doctorate in the biological sciences from the University of California, Berkeley, Pete Myers is founder and CEO of Environmental Health Sciences, an organization engaged in advancing public understanding of environmental links to health.  He is reporter, editor and publisher of www.OurStolenFuture.org,  Senior Advisor to the United Nations Foundation (Washington, DC) and a Senior Fellow at Commonweal (Bolinas, CA). From 1990-2002 he was director of the W. Alton Jones Foundation, a private foundation supporting efforts to protect the global environment and to prevent nuclear war. He received his Ph.D. in zoology from the University of California, Berkeley, and lives near Charlottesville, Virginia. www.ourstolenfuture.org and www.EnvironmentalHealthNews.org

Lisa Kivirist and John Ivanko,
are authors, innkeepers, organic growers, nationally recognized for their contemporary approach to homesteading,   conservation and more sustainable living. 
In their book, Rural Renaissance: Renewing the Quest for the Good Life,   Lisa and John describe their creative, nature-based and more self-sufficient lifestyle that combines a love of squash, solar energy, skinny dipping and serendipity.  For our program, Lisa and John's colorful slide photography and story provide an engaging mix of ideas and inspiration against an entertaining backdrop of stories and visuals, reconnecting us with opportunities to recreate the world we live in.  Their website address is www.innserendipity.com

Thursday evening program:

tim palmerTim Palmer, author and photographer
will present:  "Lifelines: The case for river conservation." 
Author of 17 books on rivers and the environment, Tim’s program,  will awe and inspire you!  Active in river conservation efforts since 1971, Tim is recipient of the first Lifetime Achievement Award from American Rivers in 1988 and the Perception River Conservationist of the Year Award in 1998. Named by Paddler Magazine as one of the ten great river conservationists of our time and one of the 100 “Paddlers of the Twentieth Century.”  www.timpalmer.org 


Saturday morning keynote/closing:
ChadChad Pregracke, of Living Lands and Waters
will share his story of building his organization from a one-man plate boat to a crew of six filling four barges with trash from the Mississippi each year.  Chad, age 29, has had a dramatic impact on the rivers of the Midwest, but perhaps more importantly, on the citizens along these rivers, motivating and mobilizing to improve the environment.  You won’t want to miss his dynamic presentation.  See more at www.livinglandsandwaters.org
