    Music Appreciation

      This course is designed for transfer students to fulfill the Humanities requirement. Exploring Music covers the development of historical music from the 5th Century through the present day. Students will study composers, genres, and musical innovations from the six historical periods.

    Music Theory

      NIACC offers a complete sequence of Music Theory courses necessary for the completion of a Music Major or Minor. In Music Theory students will learn the language of musical notation, study melody, harmony, and musical form. In addition to the regular Music Theory sequence, we offer Introduction to Music Theory to high school students over the ICN in the spring semester. This course is highly recommended for any student choosing to pursue a major in music at any post-secondary institution.

    Applied Music

      Students may take private lessons for one or two hours of credit each semester.
      Instructors teach:
      • Beginning Piano
      • Applied Piano
      • Applied Voice (all voice classifications)
      • Applied Instrumental (all band instruments including guitar)
