Kalvin Bailey, of Tampa, Florida, and Corey Robertson, of Denison, Texas, have committed to play football at North Iowa Area Community College. Bailey and Robertson were redshirt freshman at the University of Iowa last season.
“We’re extremely excited to bring Kalvin and Corey to our football family. The opportunity to land the number one rated fullback and the number 19 rated running back in the nation out of high school does not happen too often. They both are very special athletes that will help bolster our already strong recruiting class. Corey will play defensive back and Kalvin will play running back for us next fall,” Scott Strohmeier, NIACC head football coach, said. “We would not have been able to do it without great support and backing from President Morrison and the rest of the administration at NIACC.”
Bailey is a 6-0, 245-pound running back. Robertson is a 6-1, 222 pound defensive back.
“We’re please to have the opportunity to bring two outstanding athletes to NIACC’s football team, and we hope to provide both students with a strong academic base upon which they can successfully go after their athletic goals. This is a huge vote of confidence by the Hawkeyes for our football program,” Dr. Michael Morrison (retired 2008), NIACC president, said.
Both players will join the NIACC Trojan football team, which begins its 2006 season on September 2 at Iowa Central.
