North Iowa Area Community College will hold the NIACC Spring Baseball Camps in February – Pitching Camp on February 13 from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Offense/Defense Camp on February 21 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The camps are for boys in third grade through high school. Participants in the camps will receive a free t-shirt and instruction from NIACC Baseball coaching staff and current college players. Registration for each camp individually costs $50; the NIACC Double Play, participation in both camps, costs only $75.
Pitching Camp focuses on developing proper mechanics and a top notch pitching philosophy. The Trojans will cover a throwing program, pitch selection, pick-offs, drills and fielding.
Offense/Defense Camp provides a comprehensive explanation of fundamentals on both sides. The Offense Camp will cover the swing mechanics taught at NIACC and seen in every high level swing. It will include the four universal principles taught in the swing mechanics: balance, hitting position, connection and contact point. These ideas are the same fundamentals used throughout the country at many top level baseball programs. Many different drills and techniques will be discussed as well. The Defense Camp will enable participants to work with the Trojans in their specific areas of interest. This camp will cover drills, fielding fundamentals and throwing mechanics. The goal of this camp is to have participants leave with a better understanding of the importance of great defensive play and how to accomplish it.
