North Iowa Area Community College officials have named Chris Brandt as the new head volleyball coach. Brandt will take over from Mary Jo Vrba, who resigned last month.
“We are excited to have a person of Coach Brandt’s character take on a head coaching role in our athletic department. She has done a great job as an assistant coach and is ready for this new challenge,” Dan Mason, NIACC athletic director, said. “Coach Brandt has had the opportunity to work with some of the most respected high school coaches in the state of Iowa and is well prepared to lead our program.”
Coach Brandt has spent the last two seasons on the NIACC bench, serving as a volunteer assistant.
“I am very excited for this opportunity to transition from assistant to head coach for the NIACC volleyball program. I’ve been fortunate to work with many great coaches over the years, and now it is my turn to step in as head coach. NIACC volleyball has been successful due to past leadership and we have several returning players that are motivated to work hard to continue the growth of the program,” Brandt said.
In addition to her duties as head volleyball coach, Brandt will also work as a math instructor at NIACC.
