The North Iowa Area Community College athletic department and the wellness, exercise science and leisure services program will hold a Strength and Conditioning Camp and a Speed and Agility Camp for six weeks this summer to challenge athletes to achieve more for the 2010-2011 athletic seasons. Both camps will take place from June 14 to July 23 in the Recreation Center on the NIACC campus, and participants will receive a t-shirt.
The Strength and Conditioning Camp will focus on resistance training including proper lifting techniques, lifting intensities, rest periods, proper sets and repetitions; cardiovascular training including muscular endurance and cardiovascular endurance; and core training including training the core to serve as a functional unit of strength for the entire body. This Camp will meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, and participants can select from sessions beginning at 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m. or 11 a.m.
The Speed and Agility Camp will focus on speed training including linear speed, lateral speed and multidirectional speed; agility training including changing direction quickly and developing faster reaction times; plyometrics including increasing power; and core training. This Camp will meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and participants can select from sessions beginning at 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m. or 11 a.m.
Registration costs are $125 for the Strength and Conditioning Camp, $100 for the Speed and Agility Camp or $195 for both camps.
