The 2007-2008 Travel and Adventure Series will continue this month at North Iowa Area Community College. The “Vietnam: A Land of Surprises” film by Buddy Hatton, takes this season’s series to the mysterious country of Vietnam.

NIACC and the Mason City Noon Kiwanis sponsor the Travel and Adventure Series. There will be a 15- minute intermission at which time door prizes will be given away. The film will be presented at 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 17, in the North Iowa Community Auditorium.

After generations of war, Vietnam is finally in the limelight as a travel destination thanks to a generation born after the last war. There are beautiful beaches, colorful markets, historic landmarks, and restaurants ranging from fluorescent lit dives to formal candle-lit 5-star dining rooms. See the past in Hanoi and vault to the 21st century in Ho Chi Minh City.

Visit the Mekong Delta with its series of intricate waterways with an interesting look into the daily life on the water. The city of Nha Trang has everything need for relaxation such as spas, the freshest seafood, and clear azure waters. Finally travel to Hanoi and see Vietnam’s diverse architectural treasures.

The Vietnam of today is influenced not only by its ancient traditions and culture, but also its checkered and often tragic past. Vietnam is finding its way back to its ancient roots of serenity and a family oriented lifestyle. Experience a country still unspoiled and tolerant, a country quite unique in the world.

Admission to “Vietnam: A Land of Surprises” is at the door is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Tickets can be purchased at NIACC or from any Mason City Noon Kiwanis member.
