Although her classic role as Lilith, the alluring but viper-tongued, Ice Queen of Mean on the hit comedy "Cheers," brought Bebe Neuwirth into millions of American’s home, she is an all-round performer, a dancer, singer and actor who has triumphed in a dazzling variety of settings on Broadway, film and TV. Since last spring, Neuwirth — a savvy, 49-year-old show-biz veteran who has avoided the pitfall of being stereotyped in her famous Lilith role — has taken another big career step and embraced a new venture as a cabaret singer.
In her bold, new act, the winner of two Tony and two Emmy awards has been greeted with a different kind of cheers, particularly for the recent successful run of her one-woman show, "Stories with Piano.” Neuwirth, known for her acclaimed roles in Sweet Charity, Chicago and Damn Yankees on Broadway, and as Lilith on the popular television show Cheers, is a versatile actress who has displayed a talent for both comedy and drama, and has won acclaim for her work on the musical stage, television and in films.
Bebe Neuwirth possesses an impressive resume filled with song and dance success. An unmistakable voice, a dancer’s body, a consummate performer, an arched eyebrow, a subtle shimmy, and a flick of her wrist is all she needs to keep you in the palm of her hand. With her mersmerizing vocal abilities, Neuwirth is a true singing actress; an exciting song stylist, captivating audiences across the country with her signature brand of supple sass and sexiness.
Backed by her pianist Scott Cady, a highly regarded accompanist who has backed the stage and cabaret diva Barbara Cook, Neuwirth brings her interpretive skills to bear on a diverse, chic repertoire in her "Stories with Piano." Bebe’s current show features an exciting and eclectic selection of songs. She has become a premiere inerpreter of the works of Kurt Weill as well as her Chicago composers, John Kander and Fred Ebb. Bebe also explores such landmark composers as Cole Porter, Stephen Sondheim, and Tom Waits.
Her stunning interpretations of favorite songs allow you to hear them as if they were new. Hilarious and heartbreaking, her one-woman show is quite simply, stunning and truly unforgettable.
