The 2009-2010 Travel and Adventure Series will continue this month at North Iowa Area Community College. “Inside IRAN Today,” a film by Buddy Hatton, takes this season’s series to the ancient world of Iran.
NIACC and the Mason City Noon Kiwanis sponsor the Travel and Adventure Series. There will be a 15-minute intermission at which time door prizes will be given away. The film will be presented at 7 p.m., on Friday, January 15th, 2010, in the North Iowa Community Auditorium.
There is more to Iran then meets the eye. While it is often misconstrued by the media as a dangerous land full of evil and wrong-doings, here the audience is shown a side of Iran that most are not too often aware of. In this eye-opening digital production, filmmaker Buddy Hatton makes a return trip to NIACC’s auditorium to explore this historical and magnificent land. With its one of a kind architectural wonders and friendly, good-natured and giving people, Hatton will take the audience on a journey far from stereotypes and news media headlines.
While traveling through Iran the film provides a glimpse of Tehran, Iran’s capital; where the audience sees magnificent riches of the Goelstan Palace, delves into Ahvaz/Dezful/Susa’s ancient water mills and air traps, explores Yazd, the oldest living city on Earth and much more. All of this, plus the incredible people, make “Inside Iran” what it is today.
Hatton, a talented cinematographer with an ability to delight and amuse any audience, has been utilizing his love for the entertainment industry by exploring every area within; allowing him the opportunity to expand his knowledge and expertise in the field, bringing him to where he is today.
During his career, Hatton has made his mark; beginning with the production of his own radio and television show in San Francisco at a young age, he then began producing records, was successful as a commercial spokesman for numerous major corporations, challenged himself in the television field where he received two prestigious “Percy” Awards as Canada’s Television Male Entertainer of the Year, continued to entertain his faithful following of listeners with his radio show out of San Francisco, becoming a travelogue producer, lecturer and talented and emotive cinematographer.
Admission to “Inside IRAN Today” is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Tickets can be purchased at NIACC or from any Mason City Noon Kiwanis member or at the door. A portion of the proceeds will go toward area youth programs. For additional information, call NIACC Continuing Education at 641 422-4258.
