Winnebago Industries Foundation proudly presents Deer Camp-The Musical as they shoot onto the stage at the North Iowa Community Auditorium on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the show and at the door. This presentation is part of the 2011-2012 Performing Arts and Leadership Series.
Get ready to laugh your antlers off as these four mighty hunters head off to their shack in search of the elusive 14-point buck. Who are they kidding? In all the years of hunting they have never fired a shot. After all, between the beer and the bull, who had time to hunt? While that may be one way to save on ammunition, it leaves the spot over the fireplace awfully bare.
This year, things have to end differently. After 15 years of coming home with nothing but a hangover, the guys are under a threat from their wives to “get a deer or else.” That means no more hunting trips if they come home empty handed again. If the men don’t bring home a deer, their wives might discover their deepest secret: They never actually hunt at deer camp!
With that threat hanging over them, and the possibility of having no more hunting trips, they find themselves in panic mode on the last day of camp with no deer in sight. With great songs about wives, grunt horns, coupon clippers, relationships, beer, bingo players and even male dancers, the show is one you will smile about for months.
So drop your guns and call your huns’, tell her it’s time for a show! It’s about time the wives get a look at what goes on at Deer Camp each year. Put on your orange or camouflage and head to the huntin’ shack where the things that happen at the shack stay at the shack.
Fearing the ugly wrath of their homecoming, the guys need a plan. What to do: shoot one? Buy one? Steal one? They’ll try it all with hilarious results. These four huntin’ buddies come to camp fully-loaded with great songs about wives, grunt horns, coupon clippers, relationships, beer, flatulence, bingo players and even male dancers. This show is one you will smile about for months.
This hilarious comedy written by Gene Jurek and music by Doug Spartz will have you laughing your antlers off. Joining the group is Tony Papenfuss-well known as “My Brother Daryyl” on “The Bob Newhart Show.” The four pals of hunting headquarters has been giving sold out performances all over the Midwest, with many theaters begging them to come back year-after-year. Blaze orange and camouflage are not often seen in most theaters, but it’s time to make an exception. This show will definitely strike your funny bone and have you laughing yourself off your seats.
