NIACC FastTrac® LaunchPad™ and NewVenture™ Entrepreneurial Classes Start Soon
Do you have a business idea you’ve wanted to UNLEASH? It’s time you get down to business. Start with FastTrac® LaunchPad™ on March 17th to get your arms around your idea with an introductory free two-hour session for those who are interested in the FastTrac® program but need more information. Then dive into FastTrac® NewVenture™ classes, which are designed for those looking to start a new business AND for new business owners, beginning April 8th. These courses are presented by the North Iowa Area Community College John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC).

Entrepreneurs’ Exchange - What are you gonna do about IT? Viruses, Spamware and Hacking, oh my!
Information technology (IT) is the hidden business asset that is the gatekeeper to vast stores of your valuable company information. Unfortunately, IT systems are under constant attack from the merely mischievous to the diabolical hacker. Guarding your company’s IT assets are people who speak a foreign language of bits and bytes, a/k/a your Information Technology (IT) staff. How helpful would straight answers, in plain English, about protecting your computer system be to you and your company? Attend the NIACC Entrepreneurs’ Exchange on March 16, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in McAllister Hall, Room 104G, on the NIACC campus to hear answers to your IT questions.

NIACC JPEC Finalist for 2010 MetLife Foundation Community College Excellence Award
The North Iowa Area Community College John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (NIACC JPEC) has been selected as one of 9 national finalists for the 2010 MetLife Foundation’s Jobs for the Future Community College Excellence Award. A team of national experts and practitioners in the community college field selected NIACC and eight other finalists from a diverse and impressive pool of 29 semi-finalists out of the original 187 applicants. The organization will gather additional information site visits for the finalists in the next two weeks, with a specific focus on evidence of impact, sustainability and replicability, among other issues.
