Kaleb Ross graduated from the North Iowa Area Community College John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center’s Youth Entrepreneurial Academy (YEA) in 2006 and immediately knew that business ownership was for him.  His knack for landscaping and the fact that he has always wanted to be his own boss have resulted in the realization of his dream as owner of Ross Landscaping, LLC in Osage.

He first got started working with Mary and Jerry Fisk and helping with projects at Happy Acres nursery in Osage.  “They were great to for...they explained why things had to be done so I could get a better understanding of what I was doing. I wouldn’t be where I am today without their great training and my work experience there,” Ross said.

Ross Landscaping, LLC provides services such as fall and summer trimming, retaining walls, concrete edging and patios. For more information, contact Ross Landscaping, LLC at 641-330-6836.

The Youth Entrepreneurial Academy works to expose students to entrepreneurship, provide students with an opportunity to apply their skills and creativity, help students understand critical thinking skills and give students another career option of being a “job creator” instead of a “job taker.” The YEA runs June 14-18 this year and is put on by NIACC’s John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center and funded in part by the John K. and Luise V. Hanson Foundation.

The John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center is located on the North Iowa Area Community College campus in Mason City, Iowa and provides college level courses and degree programs in entrepreneurship, as well as consulting services for business start-ups and existing industries in the North Iowa region.  The Center also provides FastTrac® training programs both for beginning companies and existing companies. Space is now available in the new North Iowa Business Incubator for start-up businesses. Call 641-422-4111 for more information.
