The NIACC Pappajohn Center will present a 2010 Healthcare Act forum to provide insight about the healthcare act and how it will affect businesses. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (also known as the 2010 Healthcare Act) was signed into law on March 23, 2010, and included numerous provisions that will impact virtually all employers. Jesse Patton, national chairman for the legislative issues committee, National Association of Health Underwriters, will be the featured speaker for the forum.
The 2010 Healthcare Act forum will be offered at two different times and locations. The first time and location will be August 17, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Clear Lake Best Western and is sponsored by Lentz and Associates. In conjunction with the NIACC Entrepreneurs’ Exchange, a second date will be September 13, from 10 a.m. to noon. This forum is sponsored by 1st Insurance Agency and will be held at the NIACC Muse Norris Conference Center on the NIACC campus.
Employer tax credits, employee subsidies, dependent coverage, community living assistance services and wellness programs are just a few of the areas that will be covered during this forum. In layman’s terms, Patton will provide you with a time-frame that will show how the 2010 Healthcare Act could affect your business in the next six months, twelve months and over the course of the next several years.
As CEO of Associations Marketing Group, Inc. (AMGI), an insurance agency specializing in group and individual health insurance, Jesse Patton has worked with some of the top insurance companies in Iowa. He is currently serving a seventh term on the Iowa Small Group Reform Committee and has assisted in Congressional studies on the effects of healthcare reform at the state level. Patton will draw on this blend of experience during his healthcare forum presentations on August 17 and September 13.
