NIACC JPEC and SBDC Host Buying or Selling a Business Entrepreneurs' Exchange on March 18
Feb 29, 2008
Ref. 2848
If you are thinking of buying a company, or are on the other side of the table and looking at selling your company, you need to attend the Entrepreneurs’ Exchange at North Iowa Area Community College on Tuesday, March 18, in the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center, Room 117 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There is no cost to attend this FREE event.
To get the most out of a business transfer can take months, or even years, of planning and preparation before negotiations start. Lars Peterson, Associate State Director for Iowa’s Small Business Development Centers (SBDC), and Brian Henderson, a practicing business broker, will talk about how to be ready when the time for a business transition arrives at your doorstep. Ted Bair, director of the SBDC at NIACC, and Mark Olchefske, of the Pappajohn Center, will also join in the discussion.
Invest 90 minutes of your time before you make a major investment in either buying a new business or selling an existing one. Material presented at the Entrepreneurs’ Exchange will help you get a handle on what you need to do in preparation for a business transfer, figure out what the other side may be thinking, investigate different deal structures, learn what is the single biggest barrier to ‘sealing the deal’ and how to come to grip with the aftermath of the sale.
RSVPs for the Entrepreneurs’ Exchange are appreciated. Please email incubator@niacc.edu or call Kelley at 641-422-4383 or toll-free at 1-888-GO NIACC, ext. 4384.
The John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center is located on the North Iowa Area Community College campus in Mason City, Iowa and provides college level courses and degree programs in entrepreneurship, as well as consulting services for business start-ups and existing industries in the North Iowa region.
