North Iowans can now jump-start their manufacturing careers!  North Iowa Area Community College has partnered with area industries to offer the pre-employment NIACC Manufacturing Skills Training program this spring on the NIACC campus.

“We are offering the NIACC Manufacturing Skills Training program in response to requests from several North Iowa manufacturing companies,” Dr. Michael Morrison, NIACC president, said.  “The goal is to provide a short-term training opportunity that helps participants be successful as they start a career in manufacturing. Our partner companies have confirmed that the skills being offered in the program are right on target with the needs of the workplace.”

NIACC Manufacturing Skills Training partners include Advanced Component Technologies, Inc.; ASSA ABLOY Door Group; Cummins Filtration; Eaton Corporation; Hampton Hydraulics; Kiefer Built, Inc.; Kraft Foods; Larson Manufacturing; Metalcraft, Inc.; and Winnebago Industries.

Students in the NIACC Manufacturing Skills Training program will learn new skills related to a manufacturing career, earn certification in four weeks, learn about premier manufacturing companies in the area, increase opportunity to earn more money and better benefits and develop careers.

All potential students for the NIACC Manufacturing Skills Training must attend an information session.  A program application will need to be completed.  Information sessions for the NIACC Manufacturing Skills Training program will be held on Thursday, March 22, Tuesday, March 27 and Thursday, March 29, at the Mason City Workforce Center from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.  The reference number for the Thursday, March 22 session is 49272, the number for the Tuesday, March 27 session is 49273 and the number for the Thursday, March 29 session is 49274.  A $25 registration fee will be required for the information sessions.  This fee will be refunded to participants who achieve perfect attendance.

NIACC Manufacturing Skills Training is a 56-hour, four-week training program that runs Monday through Thursday evenings, April 2 through April 26, in Murphy Manufacturing Technology Center room 158 on the NIACC campus from 6 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
