Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) in partnership with The Association of Business and Industry (ABI) and local community partners, have started the process of collecting information from employers on their workforce challenges, hard to fill positions, and issues surrounding workforce shortages due to attrition/retirement – Workforce Needs Assessment/Job Vacancy. A postcard with a link and password to this on-line survey is being sent to nearly 50,000 businesses in Iowa to collect data to help identify current and future worker shortages and skill gaps.

This information coupled with other workforce characteristic information, commuting patterns, fringe benefit offerings, and industry/occupational clustering will provide communities and businesses with workforce tools to assist with economic growth opportunities in their areas.
