North Iowa Area Community College will host “The Ultimate Road Trip TM: Campus2Career,” a free success presentation for first year college students and college-bound high school students on October 17, at 10:45 a.m. in the North Iowa Community Auditorium on the NIACC campus.

“The Ultimate Road Trip TM: Campus2Career” shares a dynamic and energetic presentation about the choices students make during college.  It also helps give students the confidence to survive their first college year and use their entire college experience to DRIVE themselves toward future career success.

The program emphasizes the importance of academics, time management, setting goals, and maximizing opportunities both in college and in future careers.  Topics covered in the program will include: successfully managing the transition to college, tips for getting great grades and managing time, the power of work experience and internships, meaningful extracurricular involvement, managing online time and activities and the importance of starting now.

“Currently, only 68 percent of college freshmen progress to their sophomore year,” JR Cifani, vice president of Making It Count, said.  “Couple that with the fact that only 47 percent of students entering college will graduate within five years, and the importance of the program becomes very clear. We are providing students with a map to realize their goals and ambitions.”

This presentation will be delivered at campuses across the nation this fall to more than 350,000 students.

The impact of the message presented can be seen in the positive evaluations scores given by both educators and students.  In, 2007, campus personnel rated the value of the ideas presented a 9.3 on a 10-point scale, and students rated the ideas presented 8.7 on a 10-point scale.
