North Iowa Area Community College will celebrate National American Indian Heritage Month in November with two showings of the movie “Lost Nation: The Ioway” and a question and answer period with the film’s creators, Tammy and Kelly Rundle, on Tuesday, November 18, in Beem Forum on the NIACC Campus. The showings will be held at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and are FREE to the public.
“Our students in American Indian Literature are really looking forward to seeing the film and meeting the producers. This is a great opportunity for us to see where an intense interest in American Indian culture could lead us,” Geraldine Schwartz, NIACC communications instructor and member of the Global Diversity Committee, said.
The documentary brings together commentary from historians, archaeologists, anthropologists and Ioway Elders, along with new footage of historic sites, historical photographs and documents, art from the Smithsonian and other National museums, music, legends, dances, powwows and reenactments, according to www.iowaymovie.com, the film’s web site.
Award-winning documentary filmmaker Tammy Rundle served as the producer-writer of "Lost Nation: the Ioway.” She has been producing documentaries and other media projects for 14 years. Award-winning documentary filmmaker Kelly Rundle served as the director-writer of "Lost Nation: The Ioway.” He has been producing, directing and editing documentaries and other media projects for 20 years.
