North Iowa Area Community College and Buena Vista University celebrated the announcement of new articulation agreements in Early Childhood Education and Human Services today.
“Through these agreements, our students will have the opportunity to follow a seamless path to a bachelor’s degree from Buena Vista University. Not only will students gain a quality educational experience, but they will be able to do it all right here on the NIACC campus,” Dr. Deb Derr, NIACC president, said.
Faculty from both institutions worked together to create the articulation agreements for the benefit of students.
“We are excited about this expansion of our partnership with NIACC. These new initiatives are another example of our joint commitment to produce first class teachers for the children of Iowa and first class human service professionals," said BVU president Fred Moore.
The Early Childhood Education agreement will make it possible for students to earn an Associate of Arts degree with coursework in early childhood education at NIACC and transfer seamlessly to earn their Bachelor of Arts degree at Buena Vista University.
“Early childhood education students at NIACC will now have the tremendous opportunity to seamlessly complete their bachelor’s degree with Buena Vista University. We always strive to create the most opportunities possible for our students to pursue their goals, and our new agreement with Buena Vista University helps us do that,” Nancy Fallis, NIACC early childhood education instructor, said.
The Human Services agreement will make it possible for students to earn an Associate of Arts degree with a Human Services certificate at NIACC and transfer seamlessly to earn their Bachelor of Arts degree at Buena Vista University.
“Students interested in a career in human services or a related field have the opportunity to seamlessly transfer to Buena Vista University to complete their Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Services. NIACC and BVU have made arrangements to collaborate on these core courses by sharing classes between the two institutions of higher education,” Larry Kollman, NIACC human services instructor, said.
