North Iowa Area Community College will offer a two-day Grant Writing Workshop on September 28 and September 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the NIACC campus in the Muse-Norris Conference Center, Room 180. This workshop is designed for both the existing grant writer who is looking to learn some new avenues for success and for the individual who is looking to learn the art of writing successful grants.
This workshop will be a hands-on presentation format where participants will search the Internet to explore popular grant development websites; work on actual grant applications; learn how to interpret Requests for Proposals (RFPs); discover how federal grants are scored; and learn what grant reviewers look for during the review process.
Each participant will receive a 250 page hard-cover grant writer’s manual that contains numerous hints, such as: techniques for beginners; grant development instructions; grant terminology glossary; instructions for e.Grants registration; a logic model template with instruction; a sample community foundation application; a grant writer’s tool-kit; Iowa and national foundation listings; and up-to-date grant development websites.
Class discussion will review grant opportunities from the government stimulus programs to a review about the State of Iowa Electronic Grants Enterprise Management System. Instructors will also explain the requirements of the 2010 State of Iowa Minority Impact Statement.
