NIACC Offers Contest for Extreme Makeover: College Edition for Adults
May 4, 2008
Ref. 2870
North Iowa Area Community College will offer adults looking to change their lives and to go back to school a chance to do just that through the Extreme Makeover: College Edition contest.
Extreme Makeover: College Edition will result in two winners receiving one year of FREE college starting in the fall of 2008 plus textbooks and more, and three finalists winning a $1000 scholarship to NIACC for the 2008-2009 academic year.
This contest is an easy way to makeover life with a new education. Entrants must write and submit a brief 250 word essay telling why they need or deserve an educational makeover. Entries are due by noon on May 28, 2008. Then, a panel of judges will select five finalists. The final step is to have the public vote on who is in need of the Extreme Makeover: College Edition. That’s it – all five finalists win something. Plus, all eligible contestants will be considered for other NIACC scholarships specifically designed for adult students.
Adults who are at least 23 years old and who haven’t taken a NIACC credit class in the past three years are eligible for the offer.
The Extreme Makeover: College Edition contest is the latest twist to the tuition-reduction promotions initiated by the College in 1997. Such programs have benefited over 600 people, and this opportunity will allow even more to explore the option of returning to school and refreshing or enhancing their skills.
For more information on this Extreme Makeover: College Edition contest, call NIACC at 641-422-4245 or toll-free at 1-888-GO NIACC, ext. 4245 and ask about “Extreme Makeover: College Edition.” Or, go to www.niacc.edu/makeover. NIACC’s fall semester begins August 25. Choose NIACC First to makeover your life!
