From North Iowa Area Community College, www.niacc.edu NIACC General News Ref. 2938 North Iowa Area Community College will offer a program on “The Constitution and the Election of a President” on Wednesday, September 17, in Beem Forum 200 on the NIACC campus from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. This free public forum will be facilitated by John Schmaltz, NIACC Social Sciences and Humanities Division chairperson and instructor, and will commemorate Constitution Day, which is held on September 17 of each year. Participants in the program will examine the origins of the Electoral College, the changes in the Electoral College system, the arguments for and against the Electoral College and proposed changes in how we elect our chief executive. Questions and discussion will also be part of the program. NIACC’s presentation of this forum complies with the federal law requiring every school that receives federal funds to provide students with a program on the Constitution. This forum will be the fourth offered to NIACC students and the public. Free copies of the Constitution will also be given out.
