Little Bear in NIACC Performing Arts Series

Little Bear, from the top-rated television show on Nickelodeon, visits the North Iowa Community Auditorium stage on Saturday, Jan. 12, at 1 p.m. and again at 4 p.m. as part of the 2001-2002 North Iowa Area Community College Performing Arts Series. Tickets are on sale now and cost $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

"Little Bear – Live On Stage" invites children into a world of adventure that’s full of warmth, love and friendship. The audience enjoys a great show packed with singing, dancing and lots of audience participation. Based on the award winning book series by Maurice Sendak and the top rated Nelvana television series, the performance brings a smile to the face of everyone who sees it.

"Little Bear" is about the spirited adventures of a curious young cub and his animal friends. Written from a child's point of view, the television series, books and live show celebrate the fun views of the daily activities and important moments in a child's life.

Sendak, who created "Little Bear," is an award-winning author. Winner of the 1964 Caldecott Medal for most distinguished picture book of the year for Where the Wild Things Are, Sendak also became the first American illustrator to receive the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1970. In addition, he has received the American Book Award and the Laura Ingalls Wilder Medal. His books have sold more than 7 million copies worldwide in a dozen languages.
