NIACC Offers Motorcycle Rider Education in Hampton

North Iowa Area Community College will offer Motorcycle Rider Education for those who ride or plan to ride a motorcycle. Participants will learn to ride more safely and enjoy in this Motorcycle Safety Foundation approved course. Motorcycle Rider Education will take place at Hampton-Dumont High School in Hampton. The course meets on three different sets of dates: July 12-14, August 2-4 and September 6-8. Each session meets Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Motorcycle Rider Education highlights the basic skills of riding such as riding in a straight line, turning, shifting and stopping. Anyone may take the course to learn, refresh or improve safe riding skills. The licensing skills test may be waived upon successful completion of the course. Iowa law requires any person under the age of 18 who wants a Class M license – valid for the operation of a motorcycle – to successfully complete a Motorcycle Rider Education course before the license will be issued.
