Rima Named to NJCAA All-American Team

NIACC baseball player Travis Rima has been named to the NJCAA Division II All American Third Team. The freshman from Oelwein batted .397 this past season, with 9 doubles, 32 runs scored, 23 walks/hit-by-pitch and only 9 strikeouts. "Travis had a tremendous year for us. This is a great honor for him and for our program," said Head Coach Todd Rima.

Rima was a mid-year transfer to NIACC after attending the University of Northern Iowa. "Travis stepped in and gave us some consistency and leadership that we really needed. That is a difficult thing for a freshman to do, but the rest of the team responded to his work ethic and performance," said Todd Rima.

Rima will return next year for his sophomore season at NIACC. The Trojans return six position player starters and the team’s top five pitchers from a team that went 20-28 last year. The twenty wins marked the first time since 1996 the team had won as many games.
